Amylase: Small enzyme, big role in digestion

Amylase

The amylase test in the laboratory measures the level of amylase enzyme in the blood or urine.
Amylase helps break down starch into sugar,
and this test is mainly used to diagnose or monitor pancreatic disorders like pancreatitis.
Elevated levels may indicate acute pancreatitis, pancreatic injury, or blockage,
while low levels can suggest pancreatic damage or kidney issues.
